About the Winemaker: "Patricia Green Cellars is located in the Ribbon Ridge district of Yamhill County on the 52 acre estate purchased in 2000 by Patty Green and Jim Anderson. The winery, and thus the two friends, are noted for producing a tremendously broad selection of Pinot Noirs from far flung vineyards representing some of the better sites in the Ribbon Ridge, Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, and the Eola Hills growing regions. We look to produce Pinot Noirs that show the distinctions of the sites we work with. All of the vineyards we either maintain or purchase fruit from are extremely well-tended sites that seek to grow the best fruit possible through rigorous attention to detail on every single vine. To ensure that our sites truly show the characteristics of the soil, micro-climate and clonal material none of them use irrigation. In the winery the philosophy of attention to the smallest details is further extended all the way from the fermenting must to the final bottling process. All of our wines at all of their points of evolution are handled and manipulated as little as possible while being smelled and tasted on a regular basis. Our selection of barrels has been limited to one cooper noted for producing some of the best made Pinot Noir barrels in the world. As we produce as many as 15-16 different bottlings of Pinot Noir under our own label each vintage the decisions we make about the quality of every single barrel is quite rigorous ensuring that each bottling represents the best possible wine from each vineyard with which we work."

'My grandfather, Carl Mickelson, was a Norwegian immigrant farmer who farmed his entire life with the aid of a large work horse. My grandfather loved his "big horse" and as a small child I learned to love that horse too. Rich vanilla and chocolate are complimented by mature leather, floral, dried cherry and blueberry biscuits.

"Winemaker Notes: The 2013 vintage was an interesting one for the Willamette Valley. Many vineyards had deluges of rain before harvest. Thankfully, that was not the case with our 2013 offering. The placement of the flagship vineyard, Angela Estate lies within the rain shadow and harvests rather early. Made by legendary winemaker, Ken Wright the wine exhibits all of the beautiful floral and spice elements we typically see from this site; rose petal, hibiscus, root beer and cherry cola, mouth-filling juicy red raspberry and a seamless white pepper finish. 2013 Angela is a little more juicy than the 2012 with delightful, floral and umami aromas. Angela vineyard was planted in 2006 on ancient marine sedimentary soils with Wadenswil, Dijon 777 & 115.

92 Wine Enthusiast: The label does not bear the name Angela Vineyard, but the fruit is estate grown. This is a tight, focused, young red wine, with tangy raspberry fruit that touches on black cherry. Vivid and penetrating, it needs plenty of time to breathe, and as it does it reveals subtle layers of mocha and caramel. This has the bones to age. Drink now through 2030. Cellar Selection."

Angela Estate Angela Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014:
"Winemaker Notes: An early vintage, with ideal conditions and big yields for all of the Willamette Valley. The 2014 vintage shows a clean, pale ruby/garnet color. The wine displays a good intensity, with developing aromas of rose petal, cedar shavings, bay leaf, black currant and cranberry. Can be enjoyed now and has potential for aging.The first 21 acres of the Angela Vineyard were planted in 2006 with Pinot Noir clones 777, Wadenswil and 115. An additional 13 acres were planted in 2007, totaling 34 acres. Careful soil preparation, specifically designed to nourish the micro­organisms located at the layer 30 to 36 inches below ground (where topsoil meets mother rock) - creates the critical component which gives expression to Pinot Noir. Labor-intensive shoot positioning (hand-straightening and pinning of individual shoot) along with exact canopy management ensure that every leaf of the vine is photo-synthetically active. Because of the uniqueness of the Savannah Ridge, the entire vineyard is usually harvested in one day.

The Wadenswil clone dominantly planted on this vineyard produces Pinot Noir with incredible aromatics that exhibit rose petal, tea leaf and lavender top notes. The Dijon 777 and 115 round out the base and middle notes with bright red fruits, soft, plush tannins and balanced with baking spice and pepper.

This lovely bottle is smooth and supple, the fruit a mix of ripe raspberry, red plum and cherry jam, with a gentle touch of chocolate. Delicious now but will reward cellaring as we have come to expect with the wines from this vineyard."
